Lectio Divina – the prayerful listening to Scripture – is an ancient practice that draws us closer to God. Through this spiritual discipline, we come to hear God speaking into our life right now through the Scriptures. Rather than studying Scripture in an academic way (which we totally endorse!), Lectio Divina is all about letting your heart and soul find comfort, challenge, and encouragement in God’s presence.
Scripture References (ESV)
Ezekiel 3:1-3 – “And he said to me, “Son of man, eat whatever you find here. Eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.” So I opened my mouth, and he gave me this scroll to eat. And he said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly with this scroll that I give you and fill your stomach with it.” Then I ate it, and it was in my mouth as sweet as honey.”
Hebrews 4:12 – “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
Romans 8:28 – “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
