In this episode, we explore our process of discernment around major life transitions, including our most recent one which included leaving ministry at a church, downsizing our home, and moving across the country without knowing how it would all work out. We explore questions such as: How do we grow in hearing the voice of God and know that it is the voice of God? Does God have one specific calling for our lives? How do we discern where the Spirit is inviting us next?

The timing of this podcast was perfect. I am right in the midst of this searching, listening. Would love to know if you have a recommendation for a book to read – books and reading are my love language.
That is such a blessing to hear! Blessings in this state of your journey. I highly recommend “Let Your Life Speak” by Parker Palmer. It’s an amazing book about listening to the story of our lives and who God is inviting us to be. I have returned to it frequently throughout our discernment process. A second book I would recommend is “Becoming an Ordinary Mystic” by Fr. Albert Haase. It’s not about discernment directly, but he writes a lot about listening to the “unmet need or required duty of the present moment.” Another great insight that has helped me when searching and listening!
