In this invitation to prayer and meditation, we explore Lectio Divina with creation and the changing seasons, what some call Lectio Tierra. Just as we listen for a word or phrase that jumps out to us in Scripture in Lectio Divina, and then listen for what that might mean for our lives, we do the same in this practice with the creation. God speaks through Scripture, but God also speaks through creation. Jesus frequently used creation to share truths about God and our lives. In this practice, we follow this example and listen for the voice of God and look for the movement of the Holy Spirit in the leaves, temperature, animals, ground, sky, and other works of God’s hands all around us.
