In part 5 of our series on St. Teresa of Avila’s Interior Castle, we explore the fourth dwelling place. In this chapter, St. Teresa begins to explain a type of prayer that is a pure gift from God. It is not something we can earn or bring about through our own efforts. We can be the type of person ready and open to receive it, however. Through the analogy of two types of troughs, or fountains in our minds, St. Teresa explains two different types of prayer and what this means for our life as we dig deeper into our own souls and connect with God!
