Distraction or Invitation?

If your yoga-pet is anything like ours, they can’t help but dive right into a practice.

Sometimes when we are trying to film, this can feel like quite a distraction. We’ve come to realize, however, that these moments also hold some beautiful invitations. We can choose to be frustrated or we can accept the gift of cuddles, decide to smile, and let the “distraction “ become a moment of presence.

Some of Jesus’ most significant interactions in the Gospels could be seen as a distraction. Or at least unplanned. Many times the disciples tried to push such people away, or missed them all together.

Like the time the children came to Jesus.

Or a woman in a crowd touched Jesus’ robe.

Or Zacchaeus climbed into a tree to hide.

Each time Jesus saw the invitation in these people to something more. He saw a chance at a relationship, to offering healing, to meet a need, to be blessed, to hear a story, and to connect with another beloved child of God.

Friend, as distractions and unplanned people and events come your way today, may you have the eyes to see the invitations that exist in the midst of these experiences.
